Cupping Therapy

cupping therapy imageThe traditional method of cupping uses glass cups. The treatment assists with a range of issues and works by placing hot 'cups' on the skin.

Cupping therapy is not a painful treatment but it does leave red welts on the skin as it works to improve the patient's symptoms.

This is how the cupping treatment works

I would first soak a cotton ball with alcohol and light it to create a flame.

The cotton ball is then held inside the cup to create a vacuum.

The cotton ball is removed from the glass cup and the cup is placed on the patient's skin.

Usually 4 to 6 cups are used at a time and they are left on the skin for about 10-15 minutes. The skin raises up into the cup as circulation of blood is drawn to the area.
